A tennis student usually learns new strokes or new muscle memory through two methods: verbal commands or visual learning. The Silent Coach adds a new dimension: kinesthetic (touch) learning. While the student is in the process of hitting a stroke, the Silent Coach gives a gentle reminder via a mild vibration from the band placed on the body part. Getting a student to "bend their knees" or "drop their racket head" or "follow through higher" are all just a few examples of how the Silent Coach can help.
Also, a coach often times has a group of students on several courts. The Silent Coach can eliminate constant verbal comments. With the touch of a button, a student can be reminded to correct an error from 2 courts away.
For practice matches, The Silent Coach is an excellent tool. The coach may have asked the student to adopt a certain strategy during the practice match. Example: The coach has told the student to "rush the net" whenever there is a short ball. The student may not be clear on what is considered a short ball or when exactly to rush the net. During the practice match, the coach can "buzz" the student in the middle of a point, whenever he or she wants the student to rush to the net because of a short ball.
